Myrtle Oak Plantation

Myrtle Oak was built around 1790 in southern Mississippi by the Pallioun Family. The name "''myrtle"'' was given to due to the distinctive green color of the shuttters on all the windows. It operated for a long while as a sugar plantation until it burned to the ground in 1862. No one knows the cause for the fire. Some years later, it was rebuilt and still stands today. The new design is based off of Dunleith Plantation in Natchez, Mississippi.
