Born Amelia Mary Earhart in 1897, this "''ace"'' is well known as one of the most famous female aviators. She was the first woman to recieve the Distinguished Flying Cross, for flying solo over the Atlantic. She was also heavily involved in women's rights in the 1930s, and worked hard to introduce her love of avionics to women all over the world through her teachings at universities. Her strange disappearance in 1937 over the Pacific Ocean remains one of history's biggest mysteries.
