\r\n\r\nThe Sims 3, the latest in the best-selling gaming franchise ever, allows players to choose a vegetarian lifestyle right out of the box. And like their real-life counterparts, vegan Sims (with the Vegetarian trait) live longer, age more slowly, and get to feast on such culinary and guilt-free delights from tofu dogs to ratatouille.

\r\n\r\nIt is on that basis the game has garnered praise from animal rights group PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) as the \"most animal-friendly game\" of the year, otherwise known as PETA\'s Proggy Award. According to PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman, \"Electronic Arts Inc. knows that compassion is strength. And by portraying vegetarians in a positive way, other players might be encouraged to give animals a break and stop eating them.\"
