Summer Sunrise updates available, plus thoughts on World Adventures and Create-A-World BETA.
POSTED ON 11/02/09
As promised, I have released two updates to Summer Sunrise , which I hope my fellow Simmers will enjoy. Please NOTE: I\'ve been experiencing the \"black desk\" error that several other Mac Simmers have been experiencing as well. For those who don\'t know, the \"black desk\" error basically turns the most expensive desk in the game jet black on some Macs, including mine. The \"expensive\" version of Summer Sunrise features the most expensive desk in the game. Naturally, I tried to recolor the desk to match the other furniture that went with it, but because I literally cannot see what I\'m recoloring, I have no idea what the desk actually looks like. If it\'s not to your liking, feel free to recolor it. I apologize for the inconvenience, but I cannot fix errors with Cider, or errors that EA has not provided a patch for.

Having said that, there are now three versions of Summer Sunrise available for download. Although you\'re more than welcome to download all three, if you want to save hard drive space for other content, or have a specific use for Summer Sunrise , the next few paragraphs of this blog post may be incredibly helpful to you. Below is a quick outline of what each version of Summer Sunrise is intended for; I hope that you find it useful.

Summer Sunrise 3br. 2ba. (A.K.A. the \"base\" version)
  • Starter House/Customization
  • A home that a family of Sims can \"grow into\"
  • A house that allows you to \"buy furnished\" and still decorate yourself (you basically get indoor plumbing, kitchen counters, and some lighting, but that\'s it.)
Summer Sunrise (Inexpensive)
  • A large \"starter house\" for your Sims, with very basic furnishings
  • A house that you can begin playing with almost immediately
  • A house that allows for customization and expansion, but unlike the \"base\" version, doesn\'t require it; if you purchase the \"furnished\" version, you\'ll receive a fully furnished house
Summer Sunrise (Expensive)
  • A large home for the Sim that has it all. If your Sim is rich, this is likely the best version of the house for you
  • No customization required; if you hate the building aspect of The Sims 3, this version of the house will allow you to pretty much avoid it entirely. When bought \"furnished,\" the expensive version of the house comes with flat screen TVs, multiple bathrooms, bedrooms, and top-of-the-line everything. Simply put, there\'s no need to customize this version of the house unless you absolutely want to.
  • Perfect for large families, the master suite sleeps two Sims, the second bedroom also sleeps two sims, and the third \"shoebox\" bedroom can easily sleep an additional fifth Sim, or be converted into an office. If you need room for more than five Sims, consider redecorating the basement and turning it into additional bedrooms. With a little bit of tweaking, you can probably fit eight Sims in this house.
This brings me to the progress that\'s been made on Summer Sunrise Version 2.0 , The Sims 3: World Adventures , and what the upcoming Create-A-World BETA tool mean for my future creations.

Let\'s start with Summer Sunrise Ver. 2.0 . First the dimensions of the basement have changed slightly thanks to the addition of a foundation. This was incredibly time-consuming, but definitely worthwhile. Depending on the limitations of the World Adventures \"basement\" tool, I may or may not redo the already re-proportioned basement. Also, the foundation slightly changed the proportion of the house. Part of the kitchen now juts out slightly, making it more spacious.

When it comes to The Sims 3: World Adventures , I look forward to using it to enhance Summer Sunrise , as well as other homes that I may build. I\'m not promising that I\'ll throw in TS3WA goodies for the sake of it, but what I am saying is that you may need TS3WA to take advantage of my future creations, including houses, and especially worlds.

Okay, so I\'m admittedly more excited about Create-A-World BETA than I am about World Adventures , I admit it. As long as EA makes CAW Mac compatible (I can\'t see why they wouldn\'t,) I\'ll be using it the day that it comes out. I\'ve had an idea for one town in mind since TS3 came out in June, and I\'ve had an idea for a potential second town for the past month or so as well. In any case, as long as I can use CAW, I will. Rest assured, I do intend to work Summer Sunrise into the town/world that I create; it may not be identical to previous versions, and it may even be under an entirely different name, but I\'m really looking forward to CAW, and to putting the first house I designed into my own town.
