Aluminum Foil Can Actually Improve Your Wireless Signal

If you’ve ever considered resorting to aluminum foil to redirect a weak WiFi signal to your home, it turns out that you’re not really far from your destination. Eureclert reports today that researchers at Dartmouth College College have discovered that 3D printed signal reflectors, including thin layers of metal and plastic, can improve wireless signals at home quickly and cheaply.
These experiments were based on the idea of using aluminum soda to block the signal from walls and other obstacles. The team was able to analyze the location and create a custom reflector that optimizes the Wi-Fi signal in that room. They then inserted their data into a custom program called Viprintation, which designs an excellent plastic reflector and makes it from a 3D printer. The final step is to cover the object with aluminum foil and place it on the router. You can see a demonstration in the video below.
This solution solves many problems with Wi-Fi signals. First, it’s affordable; If you have access to a 3D printer, it will cost only ડ 35. It costs a lot more than a directional antenna. Second, it allows you to control your Wi-Fi signal, which is more beneficial than you think. This not only ensures that you have the necessary signals in the room, but it also allows you to break the signal where you are not. This improves physical security so that neighbors (and non-nuclear types) cannot access your network.
The next step for the team is to design a reflector from a material other than 3D printed plastic. Eventually the idea is to create a create budget that can really change the shape as the layout of the room changes. This will not only expand the coverage area of your router, but it will ensure that you get strong signals in the areas where you need it most.
