Yay! It works. Mostly.

My game is working again and I have started rebuilding my town base. I did have to permanently remove Rick/Delphy\'s CAS Slider mod because the game kept crashing to the desktop with them. No more Skela-sims for me! : D

I am still holding off on the Awesome Mod and Indie Mod; because there are things that I don\'t want to change by using them. I believe that we will be able to pick and choose which parts of the Mods we want to use before long. That will be great.

I do have an issue at the moment which is a bit frustrating. For the first time last night, I decided to try to add a home/Sim to a neighborhood where I wanted that Sim to meet another pre-made. I placed the Sim and house a few doors down and then went into the other Sims house. The first one was no where to be found. How do I do this? I know it can be done, I just haven\'t figured out how. I ended up using a \'copy\' of the first Sim, losing all of his hard earned Career and talent skills. Bummer.

It\'s just as well, I suppose, because in making the female Sim, I forgot to adjust her voice and she sounds like a parrot caught in a mouse trap. Very painful to the ears, so I play w/o sound to avoid going postal. : D They are expecting their first child/children (used the fertility reward on both) and I pray the children do not inherit this horrible affliction. : D

Patch issues?

I accidentally installed the patch. Yes, there were times during the install that I could have(and itched to) cancel the installation. But I thought, come on! You have never, ever had an issue with patches in the past, so just do it already! And it\'s true, I\'m (I was) one of those lucky people who somehow avoids all the weirdness, bugs, etc., that plague other players. Now I feel your pain. Immediately after the install and upon loading the game, it crashed to desktop at the exact same spot each time. So I un-installed the patch. (systems restore). Still crashed. Uninstalled/reinstalled the game. Afterwards, simple mods didn\'t work, I was frustrated, and after a day, I un-installed again. I try not to think of all the progress I had made, all the families, homes, careers. At least I used pre-made and exchange Sims. If it had been Sims I spent hours making, I would have been much more upset. Exchange SIms can be re-downloaded. As it is, I\'m looking at it like I just got the game and I have all of the experience of playing for a few weeks, which will only make it that much more satisfying, this time around. I really hope that this is a one time issue and won\'t be repeated after each patch update. BTW, I decided to include the patch right after my new install this morning, thinking that since I didn\'t save anything this time, maybe there wouldn\'t be anything outside the game to cause possible conflicts. I will play without anything added in first, and if that goes well, I\'ll slowly add my store items back, then finally the mods that I enjoy. Not the so called Awesome Mod, but little things, (from Simbiology and ModTheSims) that make playing more enjoyable.

Well, I\'ve stalled long enough. It is time to see if the game will work. Wish me luck.

You may or may not know that I am a global moderator at CuppaJoe; a sims fan site but so much more. The owner, VRevis, is a well-respected member of the Machinima set and was honored to be one of the chosen few to attend EA\'s Creator\'s Camp in California before the Sims3 was released. She and the other Campers\' were able to play the game, give valuable input and see how the Sims works from the inside out.

EDIT: I completely forgot to mention that VRevis has been unable to access her account here, due to an EA snafu. She asked me to let all of the wonderful people who have tried to \'friend\' her, that she is still unable to accept their requests through no fault of her own. She continues working with EA in the attempt to get this troubling issue with her Account straightened out. In the meantime, here is her SimPage:

Silly Mouse!

I logged on last night and decided to answer a fellow Simmers post. Didn\'t work. My mouse went delinquent on me and refused to \'scroll\', thus disallowing me to type anything past the first line. It was so frustrating!

I did manage to post about the issue in the \'Tech\' section, but apparently it was much too minor an issue for our amazing Tech team. No replies all day.

In desperation this evening, I decided to clean around the wheel with a toothpick and what do you know? All is as it should be. My mouse is \'gunk\' free and behaving once again!

An emergency visit to \"Best Buy\' was ultimately avoided.
