Nostalgia Notes to Self: and a song
POSTED ON 07/15/12

“A lover of words... will avail himself of... the elementary particles of language... realized as colour and light and shade.”
”[O]pposing the constant degradation of language by those who use it carelessly, he will not treat coloured glass as if it were clear.”
- Walter Pater, Appreciations 1890

Imagine - KL puppy-park '70s style
song

Imagine all the hippies,
it's easy if you try
No clothes among 'em
Above 'em only sky [cuz it's always 74 degrees and sunny]
Imagine all the simmies swimming for their lives
Eihyyyye, eyye

Imagine there's no countries [only Towns]
It isn't hard to do
Nothin' Grimmy shows up for
And no religion too
Imagine all the puppies, playing in the Park

You hoo-eeooo, you may say
I'm a simmer, but I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And Iggy's Park will be as one

Imagine no Store items
I wonder if you can
No need for Points or contests
A simmerhood of man
Imagine D.N.A.-ahay, sharing all their builds

You hoo-eeooo, you may say
I'm a simmer, but I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us [non-simmers, we're singing at you]
And the world will play as one

NOTE to Self: Banner-making
POSTED ON 07/13/12

Here's some instructions on how to make moving banners that my friends at Simatography helped Rflong7 and me with when we didn't know how to do it...

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

---------

Per ~JN at Simatography

Once they have created the images they want to flash between, they can go to http://www.myspacegens.com/handler.php?gen=animatedimage

and make their own banner (gif format)... It's fast, free and you can change the speed of the image cycles... in fact I might try it out for myself for my own banner.

Hope this helps

Per ~sylentwhysper at Simatography:

That's a great link to making a quick animated banner, thanks for providing it JN! Looks pretty easy so hopefully lots of people will jump on it and make some flashy banners!

@CMP, if you want to make a banner with images, make sure you use the Animated GIF generator that JN linked.  NOT the marquee one, that seems to be for words only.

For people, like me, who likes to control and customize every single pixel on their screen, you can use a Graphic Editing program and make your very own animated GIF Banners.  I would use GIMP as it is a free program and simple to use.  You may use Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro, etc. Any program that supports the GIF format.  Below, I will link a tutorial on the process of making an animated GIF with GIMP.  The tutorial animates a simple stick figure, but you can use the same process to animate moving/scrolling photos.  Instead of drawing, use photos in each frame and move them to animate them.
