Cities XL 2011 to Come Out this Fall!
ELKÜLDVE: 2010.06.27

I\'m very exited for this new release. With the fall of Monte Cristo, the original developer of the game, Cities XL will continue with a new corporation and develop into a full game. This new company (thankfully not EA) is Focus Home Interactive. Cities XL 2011 is exactly what Cities XL was originally meant to be plus a few extras like trading between your own solo player cities.

So far, new pictures (seen here ) of the game depict unfinished coding in the origional game. Moders who have created mods to unlock such content such as trains, skyscrapers, power plants, and even some ambient sounds already prove this. Knowing partially what the game was meant to through trailers and such, it does raise the question of whether the buy of the originality game was a complete waste.

Whether Cities XL 2011 is a rip-off or not for those who already bought the original game is a decision up to you. Because it\'s a separate game, you will be paying full price (unless there is a discount) for features originally intended for the original game.

This is due to the fact that Monte Cristo did take a risk in developing this game putting all of it\'s resources into it as it is a small company. In order to make profit during development, Monte Cristo released the game with intention of delivering patches that included the intended content. To make money for developing those patches,  Monte Cristo invested in a massively multilayer portion which allowed users to build up cities on a planet, view each other\'s creations, and chat plus other extras to city building such as being the first to get the newly developed features such as the bus system for a monthly fee.  Unfortunately, there weren\'t enough subscribers which led to the company to close it\'s doors for good. RIP Monte Cristo. Fortunately, Monte Cristo was able to sell a license for Cities XL so the game will continue. This new developer, will continue the product and hopefully do it well. I can\'t really blame them for making Cities XL 2011 a totally different product being that they just bought into game, but it will be a small thing that will haunt those who already bought the original game.

However, the game is continuing to expand which is a plus, and seeing that the new license was not bought by EA is also one too. I\'m looking forward to what this newer version has to offer; I\'m pretty exited already.
Been playing other games lately.
ELKÜLDVE: 2010.06.21
So I haven\'t played the Sims 3 in over a week. There is a reason why I play this game and that has become apparent these last few days. Unlike the general population, I don\'t play violent games. Instead, I play business and tycoon games: a pretty much dead genre.

I really do like games that force you to plan ahead and develop a strategy, and don\'t mean basic planning like multilayer on x-box. If you take SimCity (excluding  SimCity Societies) for example, you got way more to worry about then a few stray bullets. There is a lot of thinking involved and that\'s what I crave.

However, with recent power outages and other annoyances, I have realized why I love the Sims so much. The Sims is a stress reliever. Also, unlike many other games that can be fun, none
(besides my tycoon games) really have long lasting game play which is another big plus. It\'s probably the main reason why I put up with all of these bugs that EA refuses to fix.

The Sims is a great series that I really hope won\'t go down the drain like my tycoon games nobody likes anymore. It\'s all about the rpg and such. If anything other then rpgs and shooters come out, the general population says it sucks. I play Mario so looked at the reviews of Super Mario Galaxy 2 before I could get it and just about everybody who commented either hated it for not being an rpg or for it being a Wii game. I guess I shouldn\'t rant too much about this, but I do like these old games. I just don\'t like to see them all go away.
Expect much drama in the coming months.
ELKÜLDVE: 2010.06.16
As a precaution to the coming months, expect lots of drama.

Now that summer is just beginning to brew, many old members are coming back: some great, others, not so much. Recent days have shown that the community has just begun to take a turn back to what it was. The only exception is that there is less of aarin and the cult that revolved around everything she thought.

Some members are coming back to begin where they left off. Members such as Vidkid20 with blogs known by much of the community probably will have trouble coming just around the corner.  Perfectly normal blogs that many take a look at once in a while are likely to expect waves or drama as previous unwanted attention and popularity seekers view them as a center of power much like arrin was in the beginning weeks of this site.

Well, brace for future bannings, drama, and more as people begin to come back to the simming world. My advice is to ignore the trolls and continue on with your day as usual; you will only make it worse if you give them the attention that they seek. If needed, report, but don\'t post it out loud, that only entices dispute just where you don\'t want it. Those are a few small tips, I hope they help.
Its been around for a long time, but the issue has resurfaced.
ELKÜLDVE: 2010.06.13
Well it seems that corrupt CC on the exchange is still causing problems. If you have noticed some issues after installing off of the exchange, direct you attention to the thread below.

SERIOUS \r\nHIDDEN AND CORRUPT CC that transfers to the Exchange (Unbeknown to You)\r\n and a Solution

This is one major reason why I don\'t download from there or from any other exchange. I don\'t know if you have read one of my earlier posts, but I don\'t even download CC. I have a few projects to be completed and uploaded which I want to be as compatible as possible with other people\'s games and non-corrupt too. Well, be sure to check out that thread because it give some very good tips.

I think I'm going to to and play some of my older Sims and Tycoons for now.
ELKÜLDVE: 2010.06.13
Yes, with about 4 failed saves last week from a file I had started only after the installation of Ambitions, I\'m not so encouraged to start it up and play again. What I would be doing now if I could would be working on CAW, but most of us know that it\'s down because of the latest EP.

So what am I going to do? I\'m going to go back once again and start up some of my older games. Surprisingly, I never get bored with them and play weeks at a time. I did that with SimCity 4 a while back when you may have noticed some abstinence in me posting. I think that I\'ll start up Open for Business on the Sims 2 to compare it to Ambitions. I\'m sure that it will prevail best because I\'ve always loved a good business simulator where I make the choices.

Look! Rain, Snow, Lightning, and Much More in the Game!
ELKÜLDVE: 2010.06.11
Chck out this YouTube video and this one too!

So what is this? It\'s no mod for sure but something that came with the Ambitions EP. The Fog Emitter apparently dosen\'t just emit fog. If you tell it right, you can make snow, rain, lighting, explosions, fire, and much more appear. If it\'s an effect or special object, you may view it with this object.

When used properly, this tool makes great use for screenshots and movies. The only downside is that many objects don\'t have sound. (weather dosen\'t appear to have any)

Check out this thread for details on how to get to it and what codes will work.
A Miracle Happened Today
ELKÜLDVE: 2010.06.10
For the first time in months, the forum works flawlessly, and not just for me. Instead of having to wait half of a minute for a post to post, it\'s instant. No more failed posts, no errors, no not having permissions for accessing the forum errors.

It seems that the exchange is working better too. It\'s not a 100%, but it\'s fast and functions correctly for the most part. there is that annoying World section that needs a bit of fixing, but I think that I can deal with that seeing that the rest of the site is working.

Hopefully, members who lost in disgust of this site\'s previous quality will come back, and the forum comes back alive. Hopefully it stays this way and lasts this time.
Not a Happy Simmer
ELKÜLDVE: 2010.06.10
One can only wait and take so much before he or she becomes frustrated.  One can only take frustration so much till the point he or she leaves. EA has done a terrible, and I mean TERRIBLE job at keeping their customers happy. However they have done a terrific job at giving you, the customer a chance to buy something from their store which may not work due to bugs and errors.

Your transaction may fail, yet you are still charged. You can also visit the forum, where the trolls are allowed to roam free while the real members who post llamas: a symbol of the game, are permabanned: never to show their face again on the face of EA. However, you may play your game in patch because the latest patch actually works excepting that it breaks the CAW tool; you may now take your Sims on a frolic through the meadow knowing that McDonald and Store ads may clutter your screen in the future because that\'s the major addition to this new update.

There are some serious issues in this game. All of this has gone on for months unfixed, unattended, and posted all over with store ads. I accept a error every once and a while, but once it becomes frequent, it becomes unbearable. I\'ve experienced my share in errors and it\'s not pleasant. Some include a fried graphics card due to the game\'s unbelievably high FPS rate, crashes, and failed saves that lead to a lot of loss work. I\'ve been lucky, others have received a lot worse. To add onto the pile, this site has countless errors; I dare you to search the forum for a bit and I more than guarantee, you will find a few, especially if you are logged in. This is annoying. more than annoying, this is sad. And to speak that most of us can\'t complain due to a  recent and a probably convenient for EA site error that won\'t even let you access the forums for weeks at a time. There are ways around but they are timely and frustrating because they don\'t work all of the time.

Well. One can only wait and take so much before he or she becomes frustrated. \r\n One can only take frustration so much till the point he or she leaves. I may be getting to that point.
Possible Solution to access the forum
ELKÜLDVE: 2010.06.05
This may not work a 100% of the time during this broken forum period, but I\'m sure that it will help many of you.

Download and install Google Chrome . I recommend that browser because it sometimes works for me and a few other posters. Also, you might want to delete your cookies and cache before logging on so you don\'t receive that maintenance message; you know, the one with that nerd in the green sweater. To post, look below the very last post of the page; you should see a small text which says \'quick reply\' with a small icon next to it. Click it, and post; refresh only twice if necessary because more than likely, your post posted even though the forum said otherwise.
Still waiting for that fix
ELKÜLDVE: 2010.06.04
Being where I am right now with the latest patch and all, I can\'t really do anything of much use. I really would enjoy working on my CAW project, Keystone City, but the patch broke this time. I\'d also like to update my posts on the forum but that\'s broke for me too. I can still access the store though, Woohoo!!!

Playing the game with the new EP was cool but I know my excitement will only last so long. I\'d rather get down to business and get to building Keystone City.

Well, this stinks; I\'m not a happy customer.

I guess the only way that I\'ll be able to do anything is through this blog which is boring and extremely ineffective.

Sorry for the rant.
This is Walden95 signing out.

Still can't post or even view it for that matter.
ELKÜLDVE: 2010.06.03
I\'m getting really frustrated over this. The last time I was able to post was about 6 days ago and that was only for a brief peroid of time till the forum stopped working for me. Even more annoying, before that brief peroid where I was able to post, I couldn\'t access the forum for 4 days. Right now, I can\'t post and most times can\'t even view the forum when I\'m logged in. Sometimes, maybe once every 1 or 2 days, I can edit my posts such as my Free Stuff list and get things up-to-date. Unfortunately, I can\'t do more than that so if somebody needs help, I can\'t do that.

My guess that the last patch is to blame for this forum breaking down into disrepair. If you don\'t know already, this patch allows EA to implement in-game advertisements into your game while you a playing. This means that you might be playing and when you talk to your neighbor, he might yap about McDonalds or Wall-Mart or something and tell you about how great their deals are (Hey, did you know about the new value meal for only $1.99 at your local McDonald! Visit it and BUY TODAY!!!) Sound like some sort of brainwashing to me. I don\'t mind little freebies at the store but this dosen\'t seem beneficial at all from my perspective as a gamer who just want\'s to play his game.

Back on track, EA is a mega corporation which tends to be really greedy.  This new feature allows them to make extra bucks at their customers expense: it\'s normal.  EA has done this many times in the past. It\'s a wonder why this patch actually works this time around; all of the forum maintenance crew instructed by Mr. Grumpy Man the Boss who believes that duck-tape is the solution to everything was told by even Grumpier Man the EA monster to join forces with the 3 Grumpy Boss whose job is to patch the game. (I know: long sentence)

Well, to sum this up, we get a working patch that might become annoying in the future, an broken forum, and many unhappy customers which includes me. (Trust me, I can name a lot)
Just Got the Ambitions Expanchion Pack.
ELKÜLDVE: 2010.06.01
I\'m installing as I type so do not know too much about it\'s features yet. I\'m looking forward to it and all of the stuff I can do. I\'m really hoping that EA puts in a lot of content this time for both the game and CAW too; if so, I\'m sure that Keystone City won\'t disappoint. Well, I\'m off to play the game because it\'s just about done installing.
