My thoughts on the Sims games
POSTED ON 06/21/14
When the Sims 2 came out I resisted because I loved the Sims1. I had all the EP's and the game was fun. I had learned how to do everything and I didnt think that having my Sims die in the Sims 2 would be any fun.

Eventually as a big simmer I had to go with the Sims 2 and I loved it. I knew I could keep my Sims as long as I could with the elixir of life and bring them back from the dead with any mishap with new EP's.

So why has the Sims 3 not had the appeal for me as the Sims 2 did?

I think this has much been with the change to the neighbourhood. I know I can turn off story progression, even aging but for me this has been a big change that has spoiled playing the Sims for me. I liked how "I" controlled my game for all Sims in the Sims 2 and not a computer.

I like how we could go and be a vampire in a special downtown lot in the Sims 2.  Not as it is the Sims 3 with only playing the one neighbourhood. To me not being able to have our Sims move more around  and only playing the one neighbourhood is very boring.

I maybe wrong here because I haven't  played the Sims 3 much because it has never held the same inspiration and fun as the Sims 2 did. I dont know all the EP's and special things in the Sims 3, so maybe I am wrong here. From what I have seen it still does not hold my interest as the Sims 2 did.

I don't go on the forum anymore with so many "know it all's" and negative comments At the beginning I found the Sims 3 forum to be nasty and not a place to find fun :( I know that many years have past and maybe this has changed but once something has had a profound effect it's difficult to find the fun there anymore.

I used to visit the Sims 2 site almost everyday to chat, help and have a laugh. I made many friends on the Sims 2 site. I would visit every day looking for advice, pictures and fun. That to me has all been lost since the Sims 3!

So am I looking forward to the Sims 4? I will try it but if it's more like the Sims 3 in the way of neighbourhood and EP's than the Sims 2 then I think it will be my only purchase.

EA needs to think about the needs of their older Simmers and maybe they will attract some of them back to playing full time
