Sims 3 is growing on me
POSTED ON 07/06/09

Well, it\'s about 3 am again Sunday morning and I think I\'m going to like Sims3 afterall.  I finally found some community lots that I\'m able to actual enter the buildings.  That\'s a huge relief.  Plus I really am loving the ability to customize everything. I\'m learning tricks without the guide/instructions that\'s making the customizing even easier.

As of right now, the thing I dislike the least is the story telling. This I will probably still use Sims2 for.  There seems to be a limit to what can be held on-line so I doubt it will hold all the stories I\'m going to want to make.  I may just use powerpoint and make my own stories that way.  I don\'t usually share my stuff anyway but it seems like now with Sims3, I\'m pretty much forced to share my stories.   Oh well, the graphics are great.  The play is much smoother than Sims2 and there are a lot of interactions that aren\'t usually available in the base game.

My game finally arrived!
POSTED ON 06/06/09

Well, I got it finally!  Played a few hours last night into the wee morning. Bit dissappointing at first.  Miss the hot tub but surely that will be brought back in an ep or on the on-line store some how.  Very dissapointed in the story line/movie making capabilities.  I just realized I can only do that on-line.  This was the best part fo the game for me.  I really loved taking snapshots and writing a store to go along with the photos.  By the time I get done playing and taking pictures, then sign on, I may forget what I was going to write!

I really like the customization and the seemless play though. I think I\'ll just keep Sims2 installed for when I want to do stories and use Sims3 for when I\'m in the creative mood to build or customize objects.  I do hope something can be done to allow my sims to go in at least one or two community buildings.  If we can visit neighbors I\'m not sure why we can\'t enter community buildings while having seemless play.  Can\'t the software detect the hardware resources and limit the number of \'townees\' like the old EPs used to do? Oh well, I\'ve seen posts where players like not having to do anything and watch the game as a tv show.  This is very sad and disappointing to me.  Now people can\'t even use their minds & be creative playing games.  They want the games to do everything.  To me, what\'s the point of playing a game if you don\'t have some \'control\' or interactive abilities? Otherwise, I\'ll just watch a tv show. Don\'t need to pay $70 bucks or more for that as local channels are still free on tv.

I still have my SPORE so if I get too bored with Sims3 I\'ll just play SPORE more.  (nice little rhyme there).

Waiting on Sims 3 to arrive
POSTED ON 02/06/09

I can\'t say that I\'m overly eager for Sims3 to arrive.  I really liked Sims2 but since I have a new pc I figure I\'ll get Sims3.  There doesn\'t seem to be too many changes with Sims3 other than the \'free play\' or however they describe it.  I am looking forward to not having to wait on different areas of the Sims world to load.  At least, this is what I\'m hoping will happen.  I could run out today an buy Sims3 but I\'ve had in on-preorder with Amazon since October so i can get all the \'freebees\'.  I expect to have it this week.  In the mean time, I am feeling my time with Spore.  I have really come to love the Spore game as I like working with animals more than people and Spore is more animal/creature oriented.  I am hoping Sims 3 is more like Spore as far as boot/load up time.  This is another reason I\'ve been playing Spore more than Sims.  It just takes too long for Sims2 to load even on a new upgraded desktop pc.

So what will I do first when I get Sims3? Will I immediately delete Sims2? Probably not.  Knowing me I\'ll be spending a lot of time customizing my new Sims and their homes.  Of course I\'ll be looking for the cheats as I like to use cheats to see what all the game will do and then I\'ll revert back to no cheats to make the game more challenging and interesting.  I do hope the Sims3 is better and not worse.  Like movies, it seems game sequels are usually worse instead of better.  Sims2 started out being a little better then it seemed the quality went down as the expansion packs were added.  I do hope this won\'t happen with Sims3.

This is my blog so I\'m free to express my opinions :-).  I\'ve been a simmer for 10 years now and hope to continue to play years to come.  It helps to keep me young at heart so to speak ;-).
