California to New York
POSTED ON 04/17/25
I moving from california to new york last summer. Moving across the country is a marathon, not a sprint, and even with a good company it is not always smooth, but NationalMovers in particular showed themselves to be generally decent. It all started with a consultation - I contacted the manager by phone, and we discussed in some detail what and how I planned to transport. I had a standard set: furniture (sofa, bed, two closets), household appliances (washing machine, coffee machine, microwave), a couple of bicycles and just a ******** of boxes - more than 50 pieces in the end. Plus - a piano, which added hassle. From the useful: they have an option of virtual cargo assessment - the manager looks at what you have via video link and gives an approximate price. Much more accurate than just over the phone, especially if, like me, there are a lot of things and they are non-standard. I partially did the packaging myself (everything that I don’t mind losing), the rest I ordered from them. Their guys arrived the day before the main day of the move, brought normal boxes, bubble wrap, etc. They wrapped the equipment and the piano very carefully, even wrapped them in blankets and secured them with tape. They also handled the furniture carefully, although I expected the worst. As for the time frame: initially they promised 7-10 days, but it turned out to be 12. But here they honestly told me right away that July is the peak season, and delays are possible. This didn’t bother me, because I had a temporary apartment in New York. But if you have a strict schedule, be sure to voice it in advance - they can adjust.
