POSTED ON 03/28/24
Lionel Messi (Inter Miami), the "God of Soccer," has revealed that he has no plans to retire. This is an interesting statement, given the recent interview with South Korean captain Son Heung-min (Tottenham).

'Messi said he would stop playing soccer if there comes a time when he no longer enjoys the game,' British media outlet The Athletic reported on Aug. 28 (KST).

Messi played for FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) before joining Inter Miami in the U.S. MLS last year. He scored 16 goals in 19 games for the club.

"If I don't think I can play anymore, or I don't enjoy it, or I don't think I'm helping my teammates, I'll quit immediately," Messi told the podcast.

"I'm objective about myself. I know when I'm good and when I'm bad. Age doesn't matter when I retire. I'm going to keep running as long as I can," she declared.

As such, he has no post-retirement plans. 스포츠토토 "I haven't thought about that at the moment. I'm still focused on enjoying playing soccer every day. I want to play for a longer time, that's my plan," he said.

"If I hadn't won the World Cup, I would have retired from the national team because it would have affected my club career," Messi hypothesized. "Messi will captain Argentina in the upcoming Copa America," The Athletic added.

Since coming to the United States, Messi has had more time for sports. In addition to soccer, he said he became an avid watcher of tennis, basketball, and American football. "Since moving to the U.S., I understand sports a lot more. I enjoy it more," he said.

Son Heung-min said the same thing after South Korea's World Cup qualifier against Thailand on Nov. 21.

He said he considered retiring from the national team but decided against it.

He decided to wear the colors until the end of his life.

"The support of my family and many fans has been a great help," he said. It's a promise between me and the soccer fans. I want to keep it, and I hope I can grow into a strong person so that I will never have such weak thoughts again," he said.

"As long as I am physically able, as long as the national team needs me, I will do what (Kim) Min-jae said," Son Heung-min declared.

"I've heard a lot of stories from (Park) Ji-Sung, (Ki) Sung-Yong, and (Cha) Doo-Ri. I also asked for advice from my seniors in life outside of soccer. I would like to thank them for their sincere advice," he said, bowing his head.
