Why does FB have to ruin the Sims franchise?
POSTED ON 03/18/12
I can't help but think EA has a former FB worker or made some sort of deal with them.  This is very saddening to me.  I've been a Sims player since the first which is over 8 years now.  I've invested a lot of time & money into this game.  I actually only upgrade my desktop or buy a desktop specifically to handle this game.  I just spent time browsing the FB web page mainly because I have no choice now.  The EA support is useless.  It takes hours to comb through the forums for help.  Imagine my shock when I ran across not 1 but multiple x-rated postings.  I mean really, this is a site mainly geared towards pre-teens and the number of x-rated pictures visible...not hidden???? This is why I didn't want EA to go the route of FB.  They aren't monitoring it.  Thank God I don't have kids!!!! At least when the MyPage was solely maintained by EA/maxis I never once ran across sexually explicit photos.  I feel like dumping the game just for this fact.  Not to mention that all EA seems to be doing is downgrading the franchise to make it more playable on laptops/ipads and to be more of a FB type game.  I actually find I'm enjoying the social aspects of Showtime which I didn't think I would but I don't like it enough to let the social aspects become the focus. I'd much rather EA invest their time & money in improving graphics/game play/technical issues and adding new ORIGINAL content than turning it into a social/FB game.  As I stated on the FB page...EA may be gaining new players via the Sims social but they are also losing or going to lose many if not all of the long term players.  Since we are the older generation, we are the one's with jobs and are able to actually pay for the games/eps/sps and store content.   This younger generation (not all but most) do not have a work ethic and how does EA think they will survive by catering to a generation that doesn't want to work? This new generation won't have the money to invest in their franchise so again, EA will be forced to downgrade the game as they won't have the funds to keep improving it and stay ahead of any future competition.  I can only hope sooner or later another software company will realize the potential of the Sims and develop a similar game that will take it much further and make it more advanced than what EA is doing with it!  (I love my Sims can you tell! I don't want to lose them and i HATE the idea that I am going to eventually be forced to give them up due to lack of wisdom on EAs part)
Behind on blogging

Haven't had much time to blog between working and trying out Showtime.  Showtime's actually better than expected.  While the MyPage is terrible now, I do like the porting options.  I'm sure after a while the new will wear off but at least it's new & more content/interactive play.  Just hope other simmers don't get bored before I have a chance to try out all of the areas of the game.  :-)

To any of my friends that may have been recently spammed by me, please accept my apologies.   I thought I had my settings so that it wouldn't bug anyone but evidently now.  I am currently going through my page to delete old content.  Please be patient with me as I usually play the game more than visiting my page.  I'm going to try an make this a nightly task as I can use my laptop to delete posts. I keep hoping EA will revise the page so we will have more options as to what is shared or who sees what.
