"It's not Cuban, but..." Director Ogino on the transformation of 'soft guy' Leo
POSTED ON 02/07/24
The 'King of the V-League' Leo (OK Financial Group) has changed. With his strong physical strength, he is now able to hit high-flying shots into the paint.

OK Financial Group won the Dodram V League Samsung Fire 3-1 in straight sets at Chungmu Gymnasium in Daejeon on June 6 to move into third place with 43 points. They are now just four points behind second-place Korean Air (47 points).

Leo has been playing in the V-League for six seasons. However, he's never been in the paint as much as he is this season.

"It's something I always talk about with coach Ogino (Massa) in training," he said after the match.

"Cuban style volleyball is about hitting hard. Whereas coach Ogino and coach Abo (Kiyoshi) emphasize the technical side. Now that I've tried it, it helps me a lot."

On the day, Leo ravaged the Samsung Fire court with 40 kills and a 74.1 percent attack success rate. However, 바카라사이트 Samsung Fire's Yosubani (39 points) proved to be too much to handle.

Thanks to the blocking of her teammates at key moments, she was able to secure the victory. Especially in the fourth set, Bayarsaihan's three consecutive blocks were crucial. He blocked a Kim Jung-yoon fastball, a Kim Woo-jin follow-through, and a Yosvani opener to bring the score to 11-10, and OK Financial Group held on to win the set.

"First, we wanted to get the A-forward, then our serve went in well and they had nowhere to go but the side," said Bayarsaihan. At the end, my coach told me to look at Yosvani, so I went after him."

"If it wasn't for those three blocks in a row, I wouldn't have left Bayarsayhan alone today," Leo said, making the audience laugh. "I forgive you for ruining my direct kill last time. It was a crucial block," he said, adding, "After all, I can't win volleyball by myself. You don't lose because of one person. You win and lose as a team," she added.

"Yosvani and I are fellow Cubans and we know each other's roles. We prepared a lot mentally and I'm happy we got the three points in a really important game."

At the beginning of the season, Leo was seen to be a bit uncomfortable with Ogino due to their different volleyball views. "It was just a phase of getting to know each other. I know my talent and I know Korean volleyball. I understand that it may be different from the coach's philosophy or view of volleyball," he said, adding with pride, "The moment passed naturally, and we are now showing results."

"Leo and I talked a lot, not player-coach, but person-to-person. When I criticized him, I was stricter than usual, and when I praised him, I praised him more. In the process, the team's motivation improved, and Leo and his teammates became closer," Ogino said, adding, "We had some difficulties, but the results are good."

"It's a new beginning for everyone," Leo said, "and I personally enjoy it. I love the atmosphere of every game being like a final."

"I think we can win spring volleyball," said Bayarsaihan. We'll do our best to make it to the postseason over the next 10 games."
