Very Disappointed in the Gaming World.
POSTED ON 25/02/10
I don\'t know but the way my favorite games end up disappoints me a lot. I\'m into business simulators and city builders. These genres for the most part have died off. People just aren\'t interested and the companies producing these games just stopped caring about the quality of their products. Take for example SimCity. We all know that EA sucks in great games and take advantage of them to make big bucks at the sacrifice of the quality of their product and the loss of a fan base as seen with SimCity Societies. If you go other places to find city builder simulator\'s, you will find Cities XL. Again like EA, they didn\'t listen to their fan base about not going online. The end result is that the online portion failed. Now they are moving on the Cities XL 2011, an online single player game. When will they learn.

Nobody seems to care about these great genres anymore. Xbox 260 and PlayStation 3 is where it all at. The great PC games are dying (excluding for World of Warcraft). It\'s all about graphics and not so much about gameplay anymore. I came to the Sims 3 community almost right after I got broadband for the first time hoping that I could help make a small difference to keep one of my favorite games going. Apparently, EA is not treating their fan base all that great anymore so I just don\'t know what I think anymore. I\'m very disappointed.

I don\'t care about Left For Dead, or Call of Duty or any of those types of games. I care about my favorite genres.  The only other games that I enjoy are made by Nintendo. Nintendo does a terrific job but it seems that literary all of my childhood gaming is dying. I don\'t know how the Sims 3 will turn out the way EA treats their fan base but it dosen\'t look good. The directory was supposed to help but apparently, it does very little to nothing. I\'m just very disappointed.

I\'ll probably stick to the Simming community for a while but won\'t really play the game. I don\'t beleive that I will completely abandon the community anytime soon but may post less often. I\'m still hopeful, but it seems that it just won\'t work out.

Cities XL: A game with great potential but probably won\'t be the game it had potential for. The company didn\'t listen to their fan base and lost a great deal of money that way. Now they are moving onto Cities XL 2011, another online game. The only difference I know is that it is single player.

I think to myself, PC gaming is not dying but changing. Games that were popular are no longer anymore. It\'s all changing. The PC is still the most powerful gaming system and always being initiative and on the cutting edge of technology but my genres just aren\'t anymore. What can you do? Not much.

To Cull or not to Cull, That is The Question.

Well, it seems that EA will be putting a cull on the exchange soon. In my perspective, this just isn\'t a great move for EA. The exchange used to be a place to exchange creations and gain a little inspiration. Now with culling about to be turned on, it\'s no longer that; it\'s a popularity contest where no one except the lucky and ones who built up a reputation win.

In the story and movie board, it seems that actual legacies and stories never make it while short fight clips and deceptions that whine about wanting recommendations do. The story maker tool is not an easy tool; there are many issues with this tool. This new policy only will make things worse; many great creations will be lost to the culling process.

In the regular section of the exchange, even more creations will be lost. Just about every lot falls to the back corner of the exchange unnoticed. Only the ones with a custom picture (which can be a total fake), the featured, and the ones who have built up a reputation (who seem to always be featured more than once over many months). In another area, somehow, there are a ton of plagiarized creations out there on the exchange that do better than the origional. I see this whole system collapsing into a popularity contest. Just imagine all of those \"Recommend ME!\" threads cluttering the forums.

Culling just isn\'t good for the simming community. I thought that the store might have made up for the extra space needed for the exchange but perhaps not. This is EA\'s way of fixing the exchange and I don\'t approve. All culling will ever do is split up the community and force it to move elsewhere for the Sims where it will most likely die. Not a good move EA. :(

Well, let\'s see what you think. To Cull or not to Cull?
