I'm still on the same "old" computer but a new graphics card, not quite as good as the old one, and a new hard drive, put in last year and things are working much better for my Sims 3 base game and WA.
Wanting badly to catch up with all the other EP's that have come out in the intervening years I haven't played. I will be getting them just as soon as I have my new computer. Looking forward to see how they compare to the old Sims 2 EP's.
I still would have liked to have seen the Sims 3 with some of the options we had in the Sims 2. It was nice to have control over my game and the neighbourhood in the Sims 2 and I feel that with the Sims 3 I have to play with aging off and story progression off so that I will know the neighbourhood should stay the same and be in my control. It's a pity about having the aging off but I really don't want the other Sims in my neighbourhood aging while I play one of the families. I wish something could be done about that. Still I am so far behind with everything having not played in about 3 years I guess I need to play and get acquainted with the game all over again. I still do not have the obsession of playing the Sims 3 as I did with the Sims 2 or even the Sims 1 so something has been lost there.
I find all the zooming in and out all the time and the constant need to "go down" levels in a building tiresome. I never disliked it when going to a community lot in the Sims 2 and having the new page loading. In many respects I preferred this than having to continually zoom out and back in again to look around the entire neighbourhood, rather than being on the one lot and having a screen load the next lot.
It's not that I don't like the continuous neighbourhood, I think it is amazing.
I find being on one lot (as opposed to the whole neighbourhood) at the time less tiring and making the game more playable for me. I can't play the Sims 3 for very long before I have to quit and take a break. I could play the Sims 1 and Sims 2 for hours and hours and find myself not wanting to stop! This can't be said for the Sims 3 sadly :(
I was very sorry to hear that the Sims 2 website was finally closed. Seems such a shame when so many people had put up stories and items on there. I am sure there are still many people playing the Sims 2. I know for me it will best PC game ever and I will always return to play it over and over again.
