Automatic and manual scheduling
POSTED ON 01/12/25
Hi! We started using https://shifton.com/shift-scheduling in our company. In fact, this system is quite flexible, and it allows you to combine both automatic and manual scheduling without any problems. Of course, at first I was also worried that if I started making frequent manual changes, the system would go crazy, but this is not the case. Shifton works in such a way that you can adjust shifts in real time, and the program recalculates the rest of the schedule taking into account these changes. It is just important to set up the parameters correctly so that manual changes do not cause conflicts. I would advise that at the beginning, when you create the main schedule, set it up taking into account all the standard variables - that is, working days, minimum and maximum hours, breaks, and so on. Then the system will build a schedule taking into account all these restrictions. After that, if someone gets sick or for some reason it is necessary to change the shift, you can manually adjust it, and shift creator will recalculate everything else automatically to avoid overloads or overtime. As for the conflict between automatic and manual changes, I can say that such situations can be avoided if you clarify a few points in advance. Firstly, it is important to understand that the system is guided by general parameters, and if you start introducing manual changes at times when there are already some re-planning, the program can offer alternatives to maintain balance. For example, if one employee is already working several shifts in a row, and you manually add another shift to him, Shifton will offer to rebuild the schedule so that there are no violations of labor laws. In this case, you can either agree with the proposal or make your own adjustments manually.
