Als je het voorwerp uit de Store/Uitbreidingspakket(ten)/Accessoirespakket(ten) die hieronder staan in bezit hebt, kun je het voorwerp gewoon downloaden.
Als de in dit voorwerp vermelde Storevoorwerpen of Accessoirespakketten niet op je systeem zijn geïnstalleerd, wordt het voorwerp toch gedownload van de Uitwisseling en kun je het wel installeren. Tijdens het downloaden van het voorwerp verschijnt er een waarschuwingsicoontje in het statusgedeelte van het Startprogramma van De Sims 3 dat er bepaald materiaal ontbreekt. In plaats van het ontbrekende materiaal ontvang je een gelijkwaardig voorwerp of helemaal geen voorwerp.
