Very pleased to have figured out how to make a dirt overlay on a Sims 3 pattern. The dirt color is adjustable, so you can have heavy dirt, light dirt, yellowing, fading, or mildew. My first dirty patterns are some simple stripes
.
Just uploaded another pattern, a small botanical, that also has a dirty option. Hopefully will be going up soon :)
Edit: wow, they\'re fast on weekends at MTS. Here\'s the Marjoram pattern
, in clean and adjustably dirty versions.
More custom textures at MTS -- Weave and Wicker

Got some more custom textures up at Mod The Sims: a Weave and Wicker set
. There\'s some bamboo, some pandanus and some woven hemp (or something). The game comes with very few patterns in the Weave and Wicker category, and it seemed like a gap that needed filling. These are one-color textures where the grayscale bitmap provides the texture, and the player can choose one color to tint it; very easy to make, since they don\'t require all the fancy color separation that more complex patterns need.
I\'ve always been a big fan of all kinds of woven mats; my most ambitious contribution to MTS2 was a set of floor tiles which could be combined to make all kinds of decorative mats. Setting up all the differently shaped tiles with and without edges and in four different colors each was a royal pain. This time, all I had to do was provide the basic textures. Edging and lots more decorative effects can be provided by using these textures on some of the wood floor tiles in build mode, and the color is totally up to the player.

I\'ve just submitted my first Sims 3 mod to Mod The Sims. It\'s a very basic (but hopefully useful) custom pattern. Now that I have the basic idea, I\'ll certainly be doing more... I love the idea of making patterns that people can color however they like.
For anybody interested, here\'s Hysterical Paroxysm\'s tutorial
.
And here are the custom patterns she made using her method
.
Edit: woo, my pattern is up already, lol -- those folks are on the ball :D Come and get it!
