Go Into Downloads-Electronics Arts-The Sims 3

Before You Play Take Care of These Items

1.  Deletethe 5 cache files--socialcache, simcompositorcache, compositorcache, cache, CASPartCache cache. DONOT delete the DCCache

2.  Delete everything in your DCBackupEXCEPT THE CCMERGE!

3.  Delete the WorldCache file But NOT if you are playing on a Mac computer!

4.  Getting rid of the FeaturedItems file:  Go into Documents-Electronics Arts-The Sims 3 and in the list find FeaturedItems.  Right click on the FeaturedItems file and change the name to FeaturedItemsx.  Below the list of files in The Sims 3 folder, right click on the white space, choose new-text document.  Name it FeaturedItems.  Then delete the original FeauredItemsx file.  Go back to the text file you created and delete the .txt extension.  Now you have a permanent Text file named Featured Items, and the EA file will not  recreate itself every time you start up the game.

5.  Delete the Screenshots photos-UNLESS you take them for a blog or to post on a site. Then what I do is just drag and drop it onto my desktop.

6.  It is advisable not to keep any downloads in your downloads folder. It will slow you down. All I have in there is my dynamicchallenge ones and the files that look like white papers (too many to name)

6.  Also, I only keep the game (world) I am currently playing in my Saves file.

7.  The more stuff you keep in your sims inventory slows down the game.

If you are experiencing a lot of crashes and or Save error 12 there is a way to increase the amount of memory allocated to your game I can walk you thru as well.  But otherwise see my posting on Error 12 fixes.

Hobarts Resort Hideaway (many routing issues)

ThanX to Crinrict for this

Move the spawners so that they are above ground (or delete them if you don’t want any roaches).

Be aware that the spawners only seem to show if the roaches are active. Also if you can’t go to the required level, build a small pool and it should work.

To make them visible do the following

  1. Press clt-shift-c

  2. Type testingcheatsenabled true and hit Enter

  3. Press ctl-shift-c

  4. Type buydebug on and hit Enter

  5. Go to buy mode while you are on the lot (or choose from the resort menu)

  6. Click to go to the lowest floor level

  7. Now you should see the spawners (white square boxes).

  8. Press ctl-shift-c

  9. Type moveobjects On and press Enter

  10. Now you can move the spawners up or delete them entirely

Island Paradise Fixes for Lag and Freezing!

Before you begin to play do the following things to the world:

Evict the following sims from houseboats and move to houses on land. Then bulldoze the boats and the ports

Akoni Kahale and Rubisel Ichtaca

*some people have said on forums that even after evicting Rubisel, the problem persists. You can try deleting him if you need to, but save a copy of him to the library first.  I play Rubisel all the time in IP and have never had to completely delete him.  Note-there is a revised version of Rubisel in my studio!

TheMedina's

You can delete the house all together, or add a wall next to the front door. Open their garage door

The Ichtaca Castle

Remove the trees around the outside of the lot. Fix the front door area

Other Fixes

Bulldoze the port that has a bunch of rocks near the stairs.

Delete Devin Han. He is a pest that causes too many problems

Evict the Amigos and delete their house. Place in another house.

Delete any trees that are too close to the sidewalk

Delete the little yellow boat that boats around.  It will get stuck in all kinds of puddles.
