Hurac'an Island
POSTED ON 08/09/13

We simmers know that when we get a new EP, it doesn't build on the content of the previous EPs. So you have to add your own EP content to the new world. With that in mind, I made an all-in-one supernatural island for Isla Paradiso.

Hurac'an Island is named after the Caribbean storm goddess. It features the following:

  • vault of antiquity
  • arboretum
  • apothecary shop (or a vodou shop, as I prefer for this island theme)
  • broomriding arena
  • bar
  • fishing
  • harvestables and collectibles
  • pet necessities
  • port-a-potties

The rabbitholes are, of course, awkward. I hid them in buildings as best I could - I really am not a fan of sticking them in basements, so they simply have walls around them. The front doors stick out for access.

Some of the palm trees may have come from Sunlit Tides. Simply replace them with IP palms or any plants of your choosing if you don't have them in your game.

Create a 50x50 lot anywhere in the water and plop it down!

Coast Guard Station Isla Paradiso
POSTED ON 08/08/13

I thought it was cool that the Island Paradise EP comes with a new Lifeguard career. I haven't tried it out yet, but why is it at City Hall? Isla Paradiso needs a Coast Guard!

I had put a Coast Guard station in my town, Erewhon, but that was before the new EP gave us boats and docks. So I built a station for the new game. I wanted to model it after the former CG Cape Cod station, with its beautiful lookout tower. The station had to be a bit simpler because the pier-type foundation only allowed for two more levels, sadly. The station does, however, contain the essential functions:
  • an operations room with radio, charts and computers
  • an office for the commander
  • a meeting room with whiteboard and podium
  • a galley
  • a gym
  • a pool for the rescue swimmers
  • bunks
  • rec room
  • bathrooms
  • several boats
It even has planters at the gaps in the wall (where I couldn't attach it to the pier), a true Homeland Security-type solution to protecting our federal workers!

It basically serves as a hangout place, but you could add a rabbithole-pad or simply roleplay a story there with your lifeguards.

You can place a lot to the right of Promising Port on the big island and stick the station there.

Requires some EPs, notably IP, Amb, Uni and NL for various decorations.
