5 Things You Didn’t Know Sims Could Do
POSTED ON 12/10/19

Simscan do almost anything. That's one of the things that makes the game soentertaining. Our characters can live, grow, work, hobby, fall in love, makemistakes, and die either contented or unmourned. It's a microcosm of life, andit's no wonder that we spend so much of our free time playing it.

Forall the things that you know that Sims can do, though, we're willing to betthat there are a few skills, abilities, and locations that you're unaware of.If you're a seasoned Sims player, we expect that you'll be familiar with a fewof the things we're about to tell you, but not all of them. Let's face it, eventhough there are hundreds of millions of copies of Sims games sold (making itthe biggest-selling PC franchise game of all time), it still finds ways tosurprise us. The fact that we can see things we’ve never seen before every timewe load the game is why we keep coming back to it time after time.

Willwe shock you with everything you’re about to see? Probably not. Will we shockyou with some of them? We sincerely hope so. These are our top picks for thingsthat you didn’t know Sims characters could do!

Bargain With Death Using Flowers

Admitit; you've cried over a Sims character. There are times when we do suchsadistic things to our characters that we wonder who we really are as people(and the internet is full of lists of foul deeds done to Simscharacters that will make your eyes water), but there are also timeswhen a character you actually liked dies, and you're genuinely sad about it.This, however, is the Sims. Death isn't necessarily forever, and we're not justtalking about the fact that some characters can come back as ghosts.

Ifone of your Sims is a skilled gardener, you can bargain for the life of yourdeceased Sim by offering the grim reaper his favorite flower. To pull thistrick off, you'll need to have a Sim nearby with a gardening skill of levelfive or above.

Seek Out New Worlds

Laterversions of the Sims got a little trippy when you compare them to the humbleorigins of the franchise. As an example of that, did you know it was possibleto travel to an alien world and extract minerals and metals that are not ofthis Earth?

Travelingthrough space becomes an option for any Sim who makes it to level ten withtheir Rocket Science skills, and also gets promoted to the top rank in theircareer as a scientist. You can then build a rocket ship and fit it with a‘wormhole generator’ and travel to an alien planet called ‘Sixam.’ It’s likethe game suddenly turns into a ‘Star Trek’ simulator.

Hit Up The Casino

Simshave the same vices as human beings. They smoke, they drink, and they alsogamble. You might not have a quality casino in your home town, but you can makesure that your Sims have somewhere to win or lose big on the slots, cardtables, and reels.

Thegambling ability and Sims casino, which is known as Lucky Simoleon, turned upas a premium content venue and had to be bought as additional content from thestore in Sims 3. The casino contains a blackjack table and a slot machine withan Irish theme which probably looks quite familiar if you’re a regular onlineslots player. We’re not saying that it’s a direct rip-off of the famousIrish-themed Rainbow Riches slot that’s popular with many UK online slotsplayers, but it belongs to the same school of design! You can’t bank the moneythat your Sims win and keep it for yourself (you’d need to use a real UK slots website for that), but it’s stillentertaining.

Learn From The Hermit

Thereare many NPCs in the Sims game, but one in particular has secrets to reach youif you’re able to befriend him. That means you have to find him first, whichisn’t an easy task because he’s a hermit. Hermits are notoriously privatepeople, and this one lives in the outer reaches of the Deep Woods.

Youneed to be an ‘Outdoor Enthusiast’ to make the journey into the Deep Woods, soyou’ll have to spend your time achieving that ability first. As soon as youhave it, scour the woods until you find the hermit, and bask in their lessonsabout fishing, plants, carpentry, and cooking. You’ll never be able tointroduce him to any of your friends though - the hermit won’t leave the woodsunder any circumstances.

Find The Forgotten Grotto

TheForgotten Grotto is a little Easter egg in the Sims that can only be found bycharacters (and players) who are prepared to explore their inner selves as muchas they explorer the outside world. It’s not marked on the map, and it’s noteasy to find even if you know where it is. Furthermore, you won’t be able toget into it at all unless you’ve maxed out your ‘handiness’ level.

Ifyou have the relevant skills, head to Oasis Springs and keep your eyes peeledfor a rusty old door by an old mine shaft. If it opens for you, it will leadyou to a perfect grotto of peace and tranquility which is like no other area inthe game.
