'Second straight K League 1 title' Ulsan defeats rival Jeonbuk in winning ceremony
POSTED ON 12/03/23
Professional soccer's K League 1 Ulsan Hyundai celebrated its coronation by defeating rival Jeonbuk Hyundai.

Ulsan won 1-0 in the final match of the 38th round of the Hana OneQ K League 1 2023 against Jeonbuk at Munsusu Stadium in Ulsan, South Korea, at 2 p.m. on March 3.

With the victory, Ulsan finished the 2023 season with a record of 23 wins, 7 draws and 8 losses (76 points). After clinching the title early in the previous 35 rounds, Ulsan capped off a spectacular coronation by defeating their rivals in the final match.

Ulsan won the title last season, returning to the top of the league for the first time in 17 years. After finishing second to Jeonbuk at every turn, the team won its third title in a row under head coach Hong Myung-bo, following the 1996 and 2005 titles.

However, it was not a perfect finish to their first title in a long time. The final game, a 1-2 home defeat against Jeju United, was a bit of a disappointment.

This season was different, as Ulsan had a perfect coronation, not only beating Jeonbuk, a team that had always troubled them, but also preventing their rivals from reaching the top three.

The fact that they were joined by so many fans made it even more meaningful. There were 28,638 fans at the stadium that day. Despite the unexpectedly cold weather, many Ulsan fans came to the stadium to celebrate the coronation.

According to the club, this was the second-largest attendance after the largest crowd (30,756) at a home game against Jeonbuk Hyundai on August 19.

Ulsan also had the added bonus of having a top scorer for the first time in three years since Junio in 2020. 온라인카지노 Frontline striker In Ju-gyu was the top scorer for the 2023 season.

With 17 goals, In-Joo matched Daejeon Hana Citizen striker Thiago, but played fewer minutes (2563) than Thiago (2833) to become the league's top striker.

This marks the second time that In-Jong-gyu has been named the league's top scorer, having won the title in the 2021 season with Jeju United.

He also tied with Jeonbuk's Cho Kyu-sung (Meatwillan) for 17 goals in the 2022 season, which he lost due to playing time.
