When I moved the Alto lot, there was a big rock texture all over the flat ground, so I carved out a lake there. It looked lonely, so I added hills. When I moved the founder in, he had $1300 left to spend. That\'s not much.
I made the mistake of building a 2x3 room with a roof, thinking I\'d make that a bathroom for him. However, he only had enough cash left to buy a bed. Fortunately, that\'s all he really needed. It\'s a rough way to start, but it\'s not difficult to have your sim satisfy their needs around town.
Need a shower? Go to the gym.
Need to study? Go to the library.
Need to eat? Go to the park (other sims leave free food there).
Need to do something fun? Play games on the library computers or chess in the park.
It is a bit inconvenient, but it\'s not as difficult as it would\'ve been in TS2. My founder started off in the business career, which is next to the gym. So it was easy for him to slip into the gym for a shower and walk down the block to work.
After a few promotions, I could afford to get him stuff to satisfy his needs at home. It might have been easier if he started off with the Kleptomaniac trait, but everyone else is doing that. However, it makes more sense for a story if your founder\'s a criminal, rather than one of his descendants. Why would a wealthy legacy heir want to be a criminal?
I have about a 100 screenshots so far. The first heir is now a toddler. However, I\'m not sure I\'m in the mood to fight with the online story creator to write anything. The Crumplebottom story was only 33 pages and a total nightmare to deal with. Hopefully EA will add a \"Save As Draft\" feature to the tool in the near future.
This gave me the opportunity to watch the other sims I created on autopilot. I didn\'t realize it, but my simself\'s voice deepened from when I made him in CAS and he makes a weird chimpanzee like grin when he laughs. The ears need to be flattened to. All in all, that simself is scary and I need to go create a replacement in CAS soon.
I read a comment over on MATY by someone, who said that this game would primarily appeal to Legacy players because of how the neighborhood aging works. Well, that\'s partially true. Because of the neighborhood aging, the game essentially penalizes you for switching to another family.
Now, shh! I think the neighborhood aging is neat, especially spotting neighbor sims progressing through their sim lives. I occasionally spotted my first sim, Larry, or his love interest, Agnes Crumplebottom, or their daughter, Misty Crumplebottom. Now, I spotted two of Larry\'s apparent grandchildren, as he toted them around the neighborhood.
I watched my first death, which amusingly happened during a birthday party where my current sim, Logan, was transitioning from young adult to adult. No sooner than he blew out the candles, Molly French died. Molly was both Logan\'s boss and his wife, River\'s, former roommate (her late mom\'s friend).
The family trees are starting to blur now. I can\'t always keep track of everything going on, because I\'m still fighting to get my sims to achieve their daily wishes as well as their ultimate lifetime wish. Sometimes you just miss things.
I love the gardening skill, but it sucks away all of Logan\'s time. He\'s an angler and only has had time to go fishing twice. Most of his time is spent sleeping, working at the restaurant, gardening, or studying cooking. He\'s almost an elder now, and is just one promotion away from his lifetime wish to be hit level 10 of the culinary career. But he\'s only fished twice.
I love the artistic skill, now that Larry\'s wife, River, has maxed that out. She\'s making paintings already worth more than $2000 each, and they add huge moodlet bonuses to sims in the same room with them. It\'s getting easier to get positive moodlets now.
The most frustrating aspect I\'ve dealt with in the game so far are the romantic interactions. I had wrongly assumed they would just appear at certain levels of relationships between sims. This is why Larry Ambrose never married Agnes Crumplebottom.
Evidently, there\'s a short-term romance level that needs to be cranked up each time, before options appear on the pie menu. So, if you just have a sim flirt, hug, and flirts some more for a while, you\'ll get the kiss option. Kiss kiss, flirt, and hug for little while longer, and you\'ll get some more options. With Logan, I eventually got the option to propose going steady. They went to sleep, and they were back to hugs and flirts again.
Romance is now a chore. :P
The I ran into the same error with the screenshots a few times, but they did upload on a reattempt. After getting all 33 up, I spent 30 minutes arranging them and writing out my story. The preview looked great, so I clicked the \"Save It\" button. The page reloaded and cleared everything. I opened my simpage in a separate tab to see what it would look like, but there was nothing there. It\'s now several hours later, and it\'s still not there.
The website ate my story! 30 minutes of writing down the toilet! I\'m so furious. Given, the screenshots are all there, and I did a proto story on each pic as I uploaded them, so I can just write it out again. But it takes time to do that.
Why did they think a web-based authoring tool was a good idea? LAME!!! I want to do my story offline and upload the finished product! At least that way, I don\'t lose my work if the connection fails.
Boooo!!! >:(
I know my first order of business will be to create my simself, so I can create a proper avatar for this page and my avatar on the forums at boolprop.com. I\'ve been hearing various things about whether we can turn off aging for specific families or not. I recall reading somewhere that it can only be turned on/off for the whole neighborhood. I know I\'m not the only one doesn\'t want their simself to age, but wants the rest of the neighborhood to do so.
After creating my simself and dumping him in a lot somewhere (I won\'t play him), I\'ll go back and create a single sim to try out the game. I\'ve been trying to decide what traits I want to assign that first sim, but I haven\'t made up my mind and will probably just decide while I\'m creating them.
Ack! The wait is killing me! :P
