Finally have Sims 3 running smoothly...
GEPOSTET AM 19/12/14
I was able to play Sims 3 on my Alienware until the first patch/update to the base game. It was a nightmare after the first game patch/update and I would no more than get that somewhat fixed so I could play before another change was issued and my game stopped working again. Eventually I figured out that my graphics card, which met the recommended requirements according to EA for Sims 3 prior to Sims 3 actually being on the market, was too much for the game.

Now that Sims 4 is out, my Alienware graphics card only meets the minimum requirements for Sims 4--do I believe that? Not really. I'm not planning to buy Sims 4 due to the consistent aggravation of trying to get Sims 3 running smoothly based on EA's recommendation and if I do decide to take a chance on 4, it will be after at least a year so that the bugs have been worked out of 4.

One of the things that bothers me most is that according to the hype prior to 3 being put out for sale was that the exaggerated walking style was supposed to be included in 3 but that didn't happen except for elderly Sims. By waiting at least a year before even considering buying 4, at least I will be able to see if what was advertised in it turned out to actually be in the game.

Internet Explorer gave me fits with 3 but after buying a laptop and downloading 3, so far the game seems to be okay. I'm at a disadvantage for creating missing people Sims due to the smaller screen size but plan to work on them again in the near future.

I am in school and working on a Master's degree in Human Services Counseling with an emphasis on Crisis and Trauma so my time is limited but I do have a few days off between classes for Christmas. Since I've only had 3 installed on the laptop for a few days, I haven't been able to test it yet to see if I can actually upload to the exchange or see if it runs smoothly all the time.

I have missed the time that I didn't get to spend getting to know new Simmers. I look forward to meeting new friends and continuing to work for the families who have members missing. Merry Christmas!
