I used mostly standard content from the game. There are a few items from HEL, WA and the store. I\'ve tried to clearly mark each item if it came from one of these. It\'s hard to remember where each item came from so hopefully I tagged them all. I do have alternatives for the store items I used, but I believe the items I chose and the main objects work best, but I realize not everyone owns these times from the Sims Store.
The collection works best when you use all the objects in the collection together. An orange bar stool may look rather strange on it\'s own, but when placed in a room with all the other object designs, it looks perfect.
I used several CC items in my own design, so if you are looking at the pictures and don\'t recognize something it may be CC. I think the main item that is CC is the large tree artwork in the Entryway. This item is from SIMcredibledesigns.com
I also used several in game items that aren\'t recolor-able so I couldn\'t post them to the exchange. Items like the fireplace tools from the base game, the stone statue near the sofa from WA, or the Sims store orchid on the dining room table.
I tried curtains in the room, but I didn\'t like the look of them. Open windows seemed to work best in this room. Add your own curtains if you wish.
I did basically add several items that are the same color as the original in game colors, just so people would know what items looked best in the design.
I hope you enjoy this collection and Recommend the items. Check it out here .
I\'ve also posted a story that shows pictures my Sleek Great Room design and gives you ideas on how to use the pieces in your own homes.Check it out here .
When I build my houses and decorate them, I always try to coordinate the rooms and all the items I place in them. It\'s very time consuming and sometimes I just wish I could download a completed room that looks the way I like it. So I\'ve uploaded one of my completed rooms.
The Soothing Aqua bathroom has everything a sim needs to have a modern calming bathroom. Items are from Base Game, WA and HEL. I decorate using all the items from all the EPs and SPs so my sets include all of these. I use a lot of CC in my game, but in the upload sets it\'s all designs items from EA content.
Check out this set in my studio here .
Come back soon, I\'ll be posting a new design set that includes a great room design.
That said I\'ve been reading all the reviews and commentaries from people who have had a chance to play the game, and I\'ve found a few things hilarious.
Do to the fact that this is a blog, and no one is reading it anyway, I\'m not gonna post links to all the places I saw all this information, but it\'s all from people who\'ve played the game at EA test days, so we\'re just gonna assume for ease that it\'s all true (which it is).
Ok The Laundry mat. So I know a TON of people have been wanting their sims to wash clothes since Sims 2. I can honestly say I don\'t completely understand why. That\'s just one more chore. But they\'ve added it, alone with in home washing machines or dryers or a laundry mat to the Sims 3 ambitions. Great for those who want it. So if your sim dirties their clothes, they take them off and leave them in a pile. But they just put on a \"clean version\" of the same outfit. They don\'t even pick a new outfit. And your neat sims will put the clothes in a laundry basket and all that. Goodie. But here is the Funny part. Laundry is optional! If you don\'t put a washing machine or dryer on your home lot, your sims clothes won\'t get dirty! So I like that so I don\'t have to do laundry, but whats the point? Someone is gonna say yes, lets add more chores for my sims to do in the little time they have just to make life realistic for my sims even though it takes 30 minutes for a sim to go potty and that is just SOOOO realistic.
Ok funny thing number 2. Eco Friendly Sim. So I find this a cool trait, but I just find it funny how it will play out. So your Eco Friendly sim (or any sim for that matter) can now buy a laundry line to hang their clean clothes on to dry. They can also purchase a recycling bin. I know we should all be green, but a recycle bin for the sims? I mean it\'s just gonna say recycle and work the same way as a trash can in game. You\'ll just get a \"moodlet\" for recycling.
Your Eco Sim will get positive moodlets for using the laundry line, recycling, carpooling to work, or biking to work. I\'m sure this will probably apply to using the electric cars also. They get a negative moodlet for driving their own car to work. Yeah for Eco sims :)
Ok as a side note, they added a digital picture frame to the Sims 3, so your sims can now view their photos that way, and I heard some of the frames are rather large so you can actually SEE the photos. What a concept. We\'ve had our sims take all kinds of photos, and then you order them and they are the size of postage stamps and you can\'t see a thing. Who would think you should add a viewable frame!! :)
Ok and for my grand finally of funny things. Tattoos.
So the Tattoos in themselves aren\'t funny. I think it\'s cool we can put tattoos on our sims. We\'ve all read about how that will work. Layering, coloring, playing pictures on top of other pictures to make one of a kind tattoos. Here is the part that I about died laughing at today. Tattoo\'s once placed on a sim, will be PERMANENT!!! I love it. Don\'t miss spell mom, or put a girlfriends name on your sim, you are STUCK with it. I mean it\'s totally realistic, but in Sims 2 when we had \"tattoo\" shirts (like from BV) where it was a design your sim could wear, but not with anything else, it could come off. Now it\'s on for good. I guess this makes it so you can have a tattoo with any outfit. I wonder if older sims will be wearing clothing that covers up their tattoo they don\'t like. Or if tattoos will fade and stretch with age (how funny but unlikely) or if later on in the Sims Store we will be able to buy a tattoo laser remover (also unlikely)? But I honestly love it. You\'re stuck with whatever you slap on your sim for life, so make sure it looks good, and you don\'t rush and do one for fun as soon as the game comes out, cause your stuck with it. Make sure your sim hasn\'t been drinking from the juice bar before they head to the tattoo parlor!!
So I know whats coming next \"it\'s hard to remember what you\'ve downloaded and then go back and recommend it\". Well here is what I do. If I\'ve downloaded something, I recommend it right away most of the time. If I am unsure if I\'ll like the object and want to see it in the game first, I either bookmark the item, or add it as a favorite (both of which can be deleted later) and then go back once I\'ve played with the item/house/sim and give it a good recommendation
It\'s super frustrating to build all this nice stuff and see it\'s popular in the downloads category, but not in the Recs, also honestly it would be cool to be featured and I see people with 200 downloads featured all the time, (because they have high Recs) while I\'m sitting with my 521 bathtub downloads, still unheard of in the sim world. I\'m not sure anyone is even reading my blog. But I felt the need to at least post this. So If you remember one thing from my blog,
RECOMMEND STUFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
