As a government project in the 1960s, Stars Hallow was founded. Many signed up for the experiment without having a clue on the basis for the project. A few decades after the first pilgrimage to the mysterious Island the project came stop. The researchers abandoned the experiment along with with the entire population. The island lost all communication with the main land. Many died when a unknown plague came to the land. However, the survivors came together and were able to regain control of the island. It is now the 2000's and the town is self-reliant, yet it cannot explain the new families appearing in the town. Has the experiment really ended? Was the disappearence of the scientist part of the project?
