In a land where ghosts and ghost stories were as common and accepted as the gray, curling moss dripping from the oak and pecan trees, the art of storytelling was a rite of passage in any young Southerners' life.
As for myself, quite literally raised "on the bayou", I was not immune to this bard-like existence.
Writing since I could hold a pen, I have put out an extensive mess of words that have, over the years, accumulated into a myriad of web sites, blogs, and even a few published works. Words do not – yet – a paycheck make, however, and I currently pay the bills working from home as an i.t. tech and web designer. I keep up my geeky street cred with a website (skatoolaki.com) and blog (digitopus.com).
I, also, am the webmaster for an extensive Sims 2-related website (skasimlaki.com) and have some Sims 3 content at skatoolaki.com/skasimblog and skatoolaki.com/thefringepress
I reside in Louisiana's lovely capital city of Baton Rouge with my boyfriend of nine years, five cats, and a fish named Google.
And, no, my other car is not a pirogue.

The 'That Must Have Hurt...Bad' Baby
GEPOSTET AM 30.07.2011 15:03
As promised, here are the first of two (mis)adventures with my cast-off/satellite Sims:In the third generation, there were three children born to Pilar and Mortimer: Rennon, Gareth, and Annalise. I am currently playing Gareth and Annalise in the Active Household (Gareth already has two sons, Loxley & Atticus), and Rennon was sent out into the world with his uncle (who happens to be his age and who he grew up with), Kale Gardner. Kale has yet to parnter or have children (he is Pilar and Willow\'s much younger brother...born late in adulthood to Biyu and Byron) but Rennon has continued the line...somehow.The Family Tree shows Rennon as the proud papa to a young boy with his blonde hair and cute, unmistakable nose (this can\'t be an adoption, in other words). The boy is named Emmanual and with traits such as Snob, Couch Potato, and Absent-Minded I\'d wager he is not as sweet and pleasant to be around as Rennon was at his age! How Rennon had - I hate to say \"gave birth\", because...ow - a child all on his own with no partner is about as mystifying as Willow and Kenisha having a baby naturally. At the very least, you don\'t have to worry about your lines dying out with the sims you send out into the world...trust me, one way or another, they will perpetuate themselves!

As promised, here are the first of two (mis)adventures with my cast-off/satellite Sims:The first sim I chose to \"let go and let live\" (not an easy choice...it\'s hard to let those little guys go when you have created them from scratch or raised them from infants), was Willow Gardner; a toddler in my downloadable Gardner family. The Gardners are my current obsession; I am in the fourth generation of playing them and having a great deal of fun with the whole bunch; but that\'s another blog post! For now, let us harken back to the early days of the Gardner clan...The eldest daughter, Pilar, had recently married quirky, rich boy Mortimer Goth and he had moved in with the bride\'s family into their beachfront home. Willow moved out and into a nice ranch-style home in town. Later on, I checked my Family Tree window to see if Willow had gotten married and/or had children - I was really excited to see how the line would expand outside of my control. Imagine my surprise to see that she had, indeed, partnered up - with her sister\'s sister-in-law, Kenisha Goth! Kenisha was a game-born sim to Cornelia and Gunther completely without my meddling. I certainly didn\'t mind Willow becoming a lesbian - she and Kenisha were actually kind of cute together - but I was a little disappointed that the bloodline would not be continued on her end.I had little to fear, though! Imagine my surprise when Biyu - known for her amazing parties - threw a beach party to impress Byron\'s teammates after a few bad days at work. Nearly the whole town was invited, or crashed, and naturally both Willow and Kenisha were on the guest list. Willow had to work and didn\'t make an appearance, but a very pregnant Kenisha did.My first thought was that Kenisha had cheated on Willow. I waited for the child to be born - a boy the game named Nicklaus - and changed the Active Household so I could do two things: directly check out *his* Family Tree and move Willow into Goth Mansion with her wife and son (just seemed like the right thing to do...they were a family & I wanted them together). According to the family tree, and going against natural order, both Willow and Kenisha showed as \"Mother\" to young Nicklaus. In their trees, he was \"Son\".Who needs a man, eh? In The Sims 3, your female sims sure don\'t!
