My Story
Web designer by day, Sims addict by night. Sometimes, those are switched around. Mom of four great kids, wife of one fantastic husband, owner of one weird little dog. Enrolled at BCIT in their web design program to fill out my knowledge and "get all official 'n' stuff". Incredibly fun going back to school all these years - even if "back to school" is online. Liiike... I don't blog much, do I?

But I will today. I ended that last post on a bit of a sour note. Waaaaaaaay back in June... LOL

I've had fun with a Legacy-style family of late. (I say Legacy-style) because I'm loosely following rules, many of which I follow as regular game-play, but with this family, I'm trying to actually make it to 10 generations. Yeah. I think that counts as "loosely following"...) Aaanyway, as Generation 5 was growing up, I made a child's bathing suit that was too cute not to share. IMHO - your opinion may be different, which is totally fine... LOL

So "Octi-Swim" for little girls is on my page. And you know, it's just so darn easy to share clothing on this site, I should do it more often. I do like to make things I consider "really special" for my Sims 3 site that I share with Lilymayrose and Simcastic, but there are so many everyday things I make that I'm really pretty happy with that I should be sharing here, too.

I'll get to that. Promise. ;)

In the meantime, I want to state here that I sometimes get friend requests from folks I don't know. At all. Never heard of 'em. And you know, I'm soooo flattered and thrilled, I really am. Very much. But I have this OCD thing where I decided back in June when this game came out that my "friends list" would really be "friends" - folks I've at least had a few online conversations with here and there, most of which whom I've hung out with for the last few years on Simming sites the world over. So please don't feel badly if I decline a friend request. I may be looking at that backwards... but if so, so be it. It's the way I started and the way I figured I'll continue. LOL

Well, it's 3:19am, my game opened accidentally when I opened the launcher to upload the swimsuit (I swear! I do! Honest!), so I think I'll go play something. Or make something. Or something. ;)

It's a Love/Hate Relationship

OK, OK. I give. I'm going to make a list.

Things I hate.
  • teeeeny-tiny thumbnails in the garden section.
  • teeeeny-tiny section of the colour wheel that I like to hang out in best - the middle. :P Very difficult to navigate in the middle
  • bare walls and foundation floors (when building) are daaaark and ugly. Bring back the plywood and drywall!!!
  • slow load times of all the patterns in some categories, especially bigger categories.

Things I love.
  • beautiful flowers and trees
  • easily customizing most anything to suit my own tastes

I'll keep adding to this as I go. :D
Four days later...

I'm still loving it, for the most part.

I should probably make some kind of list of things I love, things I think they improved, things I think they borked... But I'm too lazy. *rolls eyes*

Generally, depending on what career my sims are in, the play is more challenging. The open neighorhood thing is a-maze-ing. I love it totally. The customization means it takes me flipping 5 times as long to build a house as it used to. *rolls eyes yet again*

I don't like that the Launcher will only use a Microsoft product to browse the Sims 3 website. *grrrr* Like, good grief. I DO have a default browser, and it ain't IE. :P

I adore the Journalism career. I have a sim in it right now, and it's so cool that you have to do so much outisde of work to get the promotions. Superb job.

Once again, I'm hooked. *sigh*

I have certainly discovered some things I like about the game, and some I don't.

One thing I don't like is that plants, when placed on the second floor with "moveobjects on", do not actually believe they are on the second floor. Oh, they'll stay there for awhile, but just don't save and quit and go back in. Because they will all drop to ground level while you are gone and they'll hide under the foundation on you.

Eee-yah. *rolls eyes*

I do love customizing the heck out of the house and floors and furniture. I love most of the gameplay. The build mode is finicky, I hate that, but the plants are a-maze-ing, so I'm placated by that bit. ;)

I've spent two days (on and off between laundry loads) building 15 Summerhill Court. Despite not being able to place garden plants on the second level in a couple of places, and despite not being able to do things I could have done with my Sims 2 game because it's base game right now, I'm really happy with the house. I hated landscaping in Sims 2 - but in Sims 3, I got it done first! LOL
A Day of Bliss

Well, I do believe I'm as excited as anyone about this game. I'm uploading pictures now to show off my first day of playing my first Sims-3 Sim. :D We'll have to see how this story thing goes.

I really do love the open neighbourhood. I think I had these niggling doubts in my mind about it, but they're soooo gone. It's a beautiful thing, it really is.

My first Sim has been challenging because it seems hard to make the scads of money she wanted. Um, *I* wanted. LOL So she was so focussed on that, that she didn't have time for love. (Well, she did - with an office co-worker who was happy to make out with her on the bed but wouldn't go further because he was married. Freak. I mean, if yer gonna be faithful, then let's be faithful all the way, shall we?)

I adore, just adore, the Create-a-Style for the homes. I haven't built yet, but I've added on a bit, and redecorated quite a bit. I found a wood tone on a table that I liked, I saved it, and then all the other furniture can have matching wood so they look like more of a set! It's amazing!

OK, I could do commercials for them now, I really could. It's sickening, isn't it? *sigh*
